The Soldotna City Council will consider an ordinance at its upcoming meeting on Wednesday, June 25, to approve the Fiscal Year 2026 Capital Budget, increasing both estimated revenues and appropriations by $395,000 in the General Fund and Small Capital Projects Fund.

This ordinance follows the Council’s adoption of the City’s 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan for FY26–FY30. The FY26 capital budget represents the first year of the plan and focuses on critical city infrastructure needs.

The proposed funding includes:

  • $15,000 for Storefront Improvement Grants

  • $70,000 for library upgrades, including reading room and circulation desk improvements

  • $65,000 to support outdoor sand storage for winter road maintenance

  • $115,000 for design work on replacing the aging shop roof on Funny River Road

  • $130,000 for the installation of an emergency generator at the Police Building

The memorandum states, “This year’s capital budget is nominal compared to some past years. However, it addresses immediate needs and allows for decisive construction funding after complete design work.”

If approved, the ordinance will take effect immediately.
