Interviews for principal positions at Connections Homeschool services and Soldotna High School have been conducted over the past week.

The public meetings were put on by the school district to involve the public in the process and Pegge Erkeneff with the district recapped the results so far.

Erkeneff: “We’ve had really positive responses, we’ve had candidate interviews now for Connections Homeschool administrator as well as a new principal for Soldotna High School. So we had three candidates for Soldotna High School and four for Connections. The Connections one was also video streamed both to Seward area and Homer area since we have Connections through the whole district. So those interviews went well and we had great candidates, good interviews, good feedback, good participation and we anticipate making offers by the end of the week.”

She said that the written feedback from the community during those two meetings is very important and Interim Superintendent Sean Dusek reads all of the comments submitted and those will be taken into consideration in selecting the principals.

As we previously reported, those principal openings are a result of current principals Todd Syverson and Lee Young retiring.
