Soldotna Considering 5-Year Capital Plan in Work Session

The Soldotna City Council will hold a work session to consider the 5-year capital plan tonight.

 

Mayor Pete Sprague says there are two goals for the work session.

Soldotna Mayor Sprague: “Number one is to review where we stand on last year’s plan, and also to present what administration would like to do in the next five years of course, with council’s agreement on that.”

 

The updated list of projects provided to the council shows five main projects that have been funded in Fiscal Year 2016. Those fully funded projects include the second phase of the Downtown Improvement project, the first phase of city wide street inventory and improvements, the installation of streetlights on West Marydale and a new roof for the Soldotna Visitors Center.

 

The citywide building deferred maintenance for improvements to things like boilers and furnaces was funded 50 percent in this fiscal year.

 

Sprague says the council will take a look at the list and determine what may or may not need to be included in projects for the upcoming years.

 

He says the recommendations will likely be brought before council as a resolution at the next council meeting where public testimony can be taken.
