The City of Soldotna, in partnership with the Alaska Community Foundation, is now accepting applications for the Soldotna Coronavirus Nonprofit Response Fund. It’s aimed at providing funding for organizations whose services help mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shannon Davis, Executive Director for the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce spoke to KSRM, “They have just opened up the opportunity to apply for the Soldotna Coronavirus Nonprofit Response Fund. This is in partnership with the Alaska Community Foundation and this is a competitive grant program that’s going to provide funding for organizations whose services help to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19. They’re really going to prioritize the programs that focus on food insecurity, childcare and youth services, mental health support, housing and homelessness prevention, transportation and also COVID-19 vaccination efforts. Grant awards are going to range from $25,000 all the way up to $100,000. There’s a total of $750,000 that’s been allocated for this program. The deadline for this first round of applications is right around the corner. It’s May 12th. We would encourage nonprofit organizations that are interested to go onto the city’s website and check out that application.”
According to the Alaska Community Foundation, many nonprofits have seen a marked increase in demand for their services. The city says that issues that have existed in the community before the pandemic have been compounded as many households have suffered economic hardship and disruption to the activities of daily life.
The Alaska Community Foundation states that organizations need not be located within Soldotna city limits, however they must provide services to the residents of Soldotna. For more information, click here.
