The Soldotna City Council will hold a work session to discuss marijuana use next Monday, March 23.
Council member Pete Sprague said the extra time was requested for further discussion of the term ‘public’ because when Soldotna’s administration crafted the ordinance, the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board had not yet come out with their Emergency Regulation defining ‘public’.
Sprague: “It was pretty close, I think there was something about waterways, I don’t have those definitions in front of me. When the ordinance was presented to council we were operating without the ABC guidelines because they came out the day before our meeting. So I think some of what we’ll do next Monday is compare and contrast to see what some of the differences and similarities are.”
That discussion was spurred during the February 25 City Council meeting when an ordinance to ban use of marijuana in public and vehicles was postponed.
No action will be taken at the work session, the ordinance was postponed until the March 25 City Council meeting.
That work session will begin at 4 pm on Monday, in the Soldotna Council Chambers.
