A COVID-19 vaccination clinic is being hosted in Soldotna this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. There are no open spots for the clinic, but the quickness with which the slots were filled is a sign of things to come for future clinics.
Bud Sexton of the Kenai Peninsula Office of Emergency Management: “There should be about 360 people getting vaccinated. It’s going to be at the old Soldotna Prep School on Readout. People have already registered for the appointments. The vaccination clinic is going to be indoors, so people are going to show up at their assigned time that they’ve already registered for and get vaccinated, and then people need to wait around for a minimum of 15 minutes afterwards to make sure there are no negative effects. Then, they’re on their way!”
For those who were unable to register for this event, what is the next step? “We’re still waiting on additional vaccines to come in from the federal level. They’ll pass through to the state, then right out the door to us in the borough. So, until we get more vaccines, that’s what we’re waiting on to establish further clinics down the road.”
Sexton recommends keeping an eye on the state’s COVID-19 Vaccination Hub online to check eligibility and to check for potential open appointments for future vaccination clinics in the area.
