Soldotna’s track and field teams delivered a commanding performance at the Kenai Peninsula Borough meet Saturday at Ed Hollier Field, sweeping the boys and girls titles and rewriting the school record book in the process.

The SoHi boys racked up 267 points, more than 100 ahead of second-place Homer. Soldotna won 13 of 17 boys events and broke three school records: Wyatt Faircloth ran 15.33 in the 110 hurdles, the 400 relay team of Lokeni Wong, Tyce Escott, James Innes, and Brenden Jones ran 43.46, and the girls 400 relay team of Anaulie Sedivy, Sophia Jedlicki, Shiloh Zichko, and Sarah Brown clocked 50.70. All three marks top the statewide performance lists.

The Stars swept the boys relays. Escott won both the 100 and 200, Innes won the 400, and Ethan Anding won the 800. Faircloth also won the 300 hurdles and the long jump. Luke Miller swept the shot put and discus, leading a Soldotna clean sweep of the top 10 spots in both events. The boys also took the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 relays.

On the girls side, Soldotna edged Homer 225-189 by winning eight events, matching the Mariners. Jedlicki won the 200 and 400, while Annie Burns claimed the 800 and 1,600. Sedivy won the 300 hurdles, and Grayson Henry won the triple jump with a PR of 32-7.25. The 1,600 relay team of Zichko, Burns, Sedivy, and Jedlicki closed out the team’s victories.

Kenai Central’s Gage Ivy earned the school’s lone win in the boys triple jump (40-0.25). Delen Byrd had PRs in both hurdles events and leads Division II statewide in the 110 hurdles. Matthew Krol also posted PRs in the 300 hurdles. Sophie Tapley placed fourth in the girls long jump, and Selah Coots took sixth in both the 100 hurdles and triple jump. Willow Graham was runner-up in girls discus.

For Nikiski, Ethan Ellis placed fourth in high jump and fifth in triple jump. Ryder Maguire added sixth-place finishes in both the 400 and 1,600. The girls 800 relay team of McKenzie Flanders, Raycee Daniels, Jayden Anderson, and Milly Hornung placed third, and the same quartet took fifth in the 400 relay.

Soldotna continues to show depth and state-level potential, while Kenai and Nikiski are sharpening key performers ahead of the Region III championships.
