Soldotna will be putting six parcels of public land up for sale during a sealed bid process that begins on Friday.
Mayor Nels Anderson said he’s a little concerned that the properties may sell too cheaply…
Mayor Anderson: “Basically, the assessed value on the Borough is generally much lower than what actual sales have been on most properties. So I just wanted to know how they set up the assessments or the minimum bids. If they’re Borough assessed values, then they’re too low. As I said, I’m not a real estate agent, but those who are tell me that the Borough assessed values don’t accurately reflect the values of the property.”
7 parcels were originally chosen from a list of 22, but one on Riverview Ave was withdrawn after a request from a neighbor.
Three parcels are located in the Mooring Subdivision, between W Marydale Ave and SoHi Lane, one on Smith Way and two in the Rinehart Subdivision.
The bid will be open from this Friday, May 1, through July 31. The high bidder will notified soon after the bids are opened on August 3rd.
