Soldotna Man Arrested by Troopers in Child Pornography Case

Soldotna resident Michael Dean Hancock has been arrested by Alaska State Troopers for allegations of possessing and distributing child pornography.

Assistant Attorney General Adam Alexander says the arrest was a result of an ongoing investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigations.

Alexander: “Mr. Hancock was indicted yesterday by an Anchorage Grand Jury on 13 counts related to the possession and distribution of images of child sexual exploitation. I can’t comment any further as the the status of that ongoing investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation.”

Megan Peters with the Alaska State Troopers confirmed 57-year-old Hancock was in custody as of 11:00 am Friday.

Hancock is a longtime Soldotna resident associated with Peninsula Martial Arts.

He now faces a potential sentence of two to 99 years in jail on each of the 13 counts if convicted of the charges.

The Alaska Department of Law release stated, “The indictment by the Grand Jury is a charging document, and Hancock is presumed innocent of all charges unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
