A Soldotna man was arrested Wednesday after beating his dog so severely that a veterinarian was forced to euthanize it.
Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on Snowflake Court in Soldotna Wednesday after a report of a loud verbal disturbance.
Investigation revealed that 44-year-old Samuel Stroer of Soldotna had used a large metal pipe to beat his Labrador/Pit Bull mix breed dog, named Paco, unconscious after it had growled at him.
After that, Stroer reportedly took the dog into his garage when Paco awoke and became aggressive again.
Storer then used a long 2×4 with screw sticking out of the end to beat Paco again, eventually breaking the end off of the piece of lumber.
Troopers took the dog to the Soldotna Animal Hospital where Paco vomited a large amount of blood onto the floor.
The veterinarian treating the dog recommended euthanization based on the animal’s wounds.
Stroer was placed under arrest for animal cruelty and remanded to Wildwood Pre-Trial without incident.
