A Soldotna man was arrested after threatening two people with a shotgun on Saturday.

Alaska State Troopers responded to the Sacaloff Drive area at 10:15 am after a disturbance was reported between 40-year-old Abelicio Gomez and two people walking their dogs.

The man and woman reported that Gomez’s dogs had “come out into the roadway and had almost attacked their dogs” according to the trooper dispatch.

The man un-holstered his pistol but did not fire it or point it at Gomez or his dogs.

Gomez reportedly saw the man do this and ran back to his residence, retrieved his shotgun, and walked to the roadway in front of his driveway.

The man and woman called 911 while getting away from the property.

The troopers determined that Gomez “had a cellphone and could have contacted 911 instead of grabbing his shotgun and running out onto the roadway to confront the male and female”.

Gomez was arrested for two counts of assault to the third degree and remanded to Wildwood Pre-Trial facility.

The incident has been closed.
