A Soldotna man was tasered and arrested after threatening officers with a knife in Farnsworth Park.
Soldotna Public Safety Communications Center received a report that a suspicious male was acting aggressively towards other occupants of the park on April 25.
Mlynarik: “We responded, through the course of that the person was aggressive towards police officers and we deployed, I think there were a total of four tasers, three were ineffective and the last one was effective. During our contact with him he had a knife and was threatening officers with the knife and we were able to get a successful taser deployment and take him into custody.”
Soldotna Police Chief Peter Mlynarik said the first three tasers did not make adequate contact.
Due to the nature of the call, an Alaska State Trooper in the area was also on scene during the incident.
The man was identified as 55 year-old Manuel Martin of Soldotna and Mlynarik said alcohol appeared to be the contributing factor.
Martin was arrested on four counts of assault in the third degree and taken to Wildwood.
No injuries were reported.
