Initial numbers from yesterday’s municipal election have indicated Soldotna’s Proposition One has been voted down with just about a 4% margin.

City Clerk Shellie Saner said the absentee ballots have yet to be counted.

Saner: “As of this morning when I contacted the Kenai Peninsula Borough absentee voting office to see how many absentee in person ballots were cast for the city over there, they have 141, we have received back at this time 24 of our 57 by mail and as long as they come in by Monday and are post marked election day they will be counted and we have 59 questions so there is a total of 226 ballots left to be canvased.”

That proposition asked Soldotna voters whether or not the City of Soldotna should localize financial disclosure reporting requirements in order to “protect citizens and public servants from unreasonable exposure.”
