Soldotna Regional Sport Complex Continues as Priority

The Soldotna Regional Sports Complex ranks third on the 2016-2020 draft Soldotna Capital Plan.

Council member Pete Sprague spoke with us about why it’s been a top priority for so long.

Sprague: “Number one it’s been kind of a moving target and we weren’t sure where we were going to go with it. And I think that we’ve come to the conclusion that we’re going to expand the conference rooms and improve the locker room facilities, just making it more user friendly for folks that are using the ice rink and that portion of it as well as for folks who want to have meetings and events.”

The draft plan put an $8,000,000 estimate on the rehabilitation of conference rooms and construction of a field house.

That draft also notes that grants may be sought as a source of revenue for that project.

The first item on the list of the draft capital plan is a police impound and evidence building for $800,000, stating that the current evidence room is inadequate.

The purchase of a front end loader for the Soldotna Airport is second on the list, estimated at $550,000.

Administration will present the draft capital plan at a 5 pm work session at Soldotna City Hall.
