Alaska State Troopers are seeking more information after a REDDI report led to a DUI arrest on Saturday, July 9th.
Soldotna Troopers responded to a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report from a concerned citizen on July 9th. The caller reported a vehicle was driving into oncoming traffic from about mile 77 of the Sterling Highway to mile 61 as it traveled northbound. The caller also reported witnessing several southbound motorists being forced from the road due to the dangerous driver.
AST located the vehicle, a white Dodge pickup truck, near the intersection of Lake Street and the Sterling Highway in Homer, and contacted the operator, Pedro Escanero. Escanero, age 42 of Houston Texas, was found to be very intoxicated. He was arrested for driving under the influence, as well as refusal to provide a breath sample.
Escanero was remanded at the Wildwood Pretrial center.
AST is seeking information from any person who was traveling in the area during the date and time of this incident that may have witnessed Escareno’s dangerous driving. AST is particularly interested in speaking with any south bound drivers that were forced to take evasive action to avoid a head on collision with Escareno’s white Dodge pickup.
Please call the Soldotna Troopers at (907) 262-4453 with any information.
