The Soldotna Whalers Wrestling Club topped the team scoring in the Greco-Roman, the Women’s Freestyle, the Folkstyle and the Men’s Freestyle, sweeping the team championships at the 2023 Alaska USA Wrestling Folkstyle, Greco-Roman & Freestyle State Championships.
The Alaska USA Wrestling 2023 Folkstyle, Greco-Roman & Freestyle State Championships is the largest wrestling tournament in Alaska with wrestlers coming from all regions of the state. Home of the Triple Crown, the 2023 season includes 30 sanctioned clubs, over 1900 wrestlers and over 350 coaches and officials.
The AUSAW state championships featured four separate tournaments including a women’s freestyle, folkstyle,
men’s freestyle and greco-roman. Three days of competition (May4-6) were contested at the Menard Arena in Wasilla.
Fourteen members of the Soldotna Whalers Wrestling Club finished undefeated in all three wrestling disciplines for the tournament earning Triple Crown Winner status.
