With the mandates of social distancing regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, race coordinators for upcoming running events are being forced to be creative or cancel events which in some cases draw thousands of participants.

The Alaska Heart Run

The American Heart Association has been closely following the guidance from the CDC and state and local health officials regarding the running of the 2020 Alaska Heart Run.

The Alaska Heart Run will be run in 2020 as a virtual event.

Alaska Heart Run committee…

“On April 18, we’ll kick things off right here on Facebook with our morning program including warm up and then send you to be active in your favorite way … on a treadmill, a local walking path, by following a video or surprise us! We’ll be following your moves on social media when you share photos and videos using the hashtag #AlaskaHeartRun

Save the date, register today at AlaskaHeartRun.org and raise critically needed funds to support the American Heart Association. Our mission is more important than ever. We recognize the increased risk of complications from COVID-19 for the millions of Americans who currently have one or more cardiovascular diseases.”

2020 Salmon Run

The 2020 Salmon Run, scheduled for May 2nd and competed through the city streets and trails of Anchorage, has been cancelled for 2020.

Designed to include a 2K, 5K, or 10K event, the Salmon Run uses the Coastal trail through the Anchorage area.

With the cancellation, direct all questions to Bonnie J. DeArmoun – 907-575-9715  [email protected].
