The 2015 Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon breezed past an ambitious goal this year. KSRM’s General Manager Matt Wilson said it came down to the wire last Friday evening…

Wilson: “As the radiothon was wrapping up, we were about 5 to 6 partners in hope away from beating last year’s goal, so we pushed very hard on the air, challenged our listeners to step up and to donate as much as they possibly could, so we could meet the goal that we set for ourselves. The last two hours we need 20 people to be partners in hope to hit the goal, like I said we had 6 more to hit, and within the last few minutes we got all 6, I think we actually got 7 or 8, wrapped up the radiothon and final total $45,640.”

 

Wilson said that represents a roughly 7% increase over last year’s $42,000.

Wilson: “100% of the funds go straight to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee for them to continue the research and treatment of kids with catastrophic diseases including cancer and other illnesses.”

 

This year, GCI donated 50,000 Alaska Airlines miles, which was won by Dan Bates.
