Star Girls Close Soccer Regular Season Unbeaten

The Soldotna Stars girls soccer team finished the regular season with an undefeated 12-0 record holding-off the Kenai Kardinal girls 1-0 in the regular season finale’.

The Soldotna girls will be the #1 seed from the South in the upcoming Northern Lights Conference soccer tournament; Kenai earns the #2 seed with a 6-3-1 conference record.

The Kenai boys defeated the SoHi boys 4- 1 to end regular season play, earning Kenai the #2 seed from the South with a 6-3-1 record, SoHi earns the #3 seed with a 5-5-2 NLC record.  The Homer Mariners will be the #1 South seed into the NLC soccer tournament.

SoHi Girls 1 – Kenai 0  SoHi goal: Alyssa Wolfe scores in stoppage time for Stars

Kenai Boys 4 – SoHi 1   Kardinals goals: T J Wagoner (2), Trevor Shirnberg, Jake Meyer

Stars broke a 0-0- tie with first goal by Charalambos Asimakopoulos; Kenai scores four unanswered goals.

SoHi Girls 5 – Grace 0  SoHi goals: Kylee Wolfe (3), Alyssa Wolfe (2)

Grace Boys 2 – SoHi 1   SoHi goal: Jacob O’Lena

Nikiski Boys 1 – Skyview 0  Nikiski goal: Christian Riddall

Nikiski boys clinches #4 South seed with 2-2-1 South record, 5-5-1 overall; Skyview finishes 1-4 in South, 2-9 overall.

Nikiski Girls 2 – Skyview 0  Nikiski goals: Rachel Thompson (2)

Nikiski girls clinch #4 South seed with 1-2-2 conference record; Skyview finishes 1-9 overall.

Homer Girls 5 – Skyview 0

Homer Boys 8 – Skyview 0

 

The 2014 Northern Lights Conference Soccer Championships begin play on Thursday, May 22nd, hosted by Wasilla High School.

The soccer tournament bracket matches the Southern Division (SoHi, Kenai, Homer, Nikiski) against the Northern Division (Colony, Wasilla, Palmer, Grace) in a bracketed, tournament format with first round games pairings across the divisions.  The Colony Knights boys and Wasilla Warriors girls are the top seed from the North for the NLC soccer tournament.  The Homer Mariner boys (10-1) and the Soldotna Stars girls (12-0) are the top seeds for the South for the NLC soccer tournament.
