The SoHi Stars advance to the ASAA Division II State Baseball championship game on a dramatic eighth-inning, walk-off home run by sophomore Andrew Pieh which propelled the Stars past North Pole 9-8 in Friday’s winner’s bracket, semi-final in Wasilla.
SoHi will play Petersburg in the Division II championship game on Saturday at 3 p.m.

SoHi 9 – North Pole 8 Friday semi-final
The Stars rallied from a 6-0, first-inning deficit to overcome the North Pole Patriots 9-8 on a walk-off home run by Andrew Pieh in the eighth inning.
SoHi trailed 6-0 after the first half inning as the Patriots scored six runs assisted by a couple of SoHi errors. North Pole added a run in the fourth and a run in the fifth inning. Riley Johnson opened on the mound for the Stars and threw five innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits. Trenton Ohnemus earned the win pitching three innings and recording five strikeouts.
Offensively the Stars recorded ten hits lead by Jacob Belger’s 2 hits, 3 runs and 2 RBI. Derrick Jone went 3 for 4 at the plate and Pieh finished 2 for 3 with an RBI. SoHi scored one run in the first inning and added a run in the third, three runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and a single run in the sixth and the tying run in the bottom of the seventh. Pieh’s game-winning home run came on the first pitch of the eighth inning.
