A best of five, five game battle in the home opener of the Soldotna volleyball season on Friday was capped with an 18-16, game five victory over Nikiski for the Stars.
SoHi held-off Nikiski 20-25, 25-16, 25-22, 24-26 and 18-16 . Nikiski won game five 24-26 to force the game five (game to 15, win by two).
SoHi’s Morgan Bouschor recorded 18 kills and Sierra Kuntz notched 22 assists. For Nikiski, Lillian Carstens totaled seven kills, eight blocks and five aces; Emma Lakin recorded seven assists and eight digs.
In other peninsula volleyball, Homer earned a sweep of Seward 3-0.
