Stars & Bulldogs Record Divisional Wins: Kards Fall To Palmer In Week 3 Football

Division II football featured Friday night showdowns between top teams in the Northern Lights and Railbelt Conferences; Division III Nikiski overpowers Joe Redington in match between Aurora and Peninsula Conferences.

 

SoHi  50 – Lathrop 21

The Soldotna Stars sent notice to the newly-formed Railbelt Conference with a decisive 50-21 victory over a 2-0 Lathrop Malemute team, dominating the Malemutes with three, first-half and four, second-half touchdowns.  SoHi scored first; then trailed 7-6 on the Malemutes first score.  From early in the second quarter, it was all SoHi.

Kenai 6 – Palmer 34

The Palmer Moose controlled the trenches on both sides of the ball in a 34-6 victory over the Kenai Kardinals.  Palmer scored three, first half touchdowns and recorded an interception leading to a 21-0 halftime lead.   Kenai scored on its only possession of the third quarter, after trailing 28-0.  Titus Riddell found the end zone from a yard out with :12 seconds remaining in the third quarter.  A final, fourth quarter score for Palmer closed the game at 34-6.

 

Nikiski 28 – Joe Redington 0

The Nikiski Bulldogs recorded a second-straight Division III victory with a 28-0 shut out of Joe Redington High School.  The Bulldogs amassed over 300 total yards including 269 rushing yards.  Sam Berry lead the ground attack with 101 yards.  Noah Litke completed two touchdown passes to Michael Eiter.
