Defense shined for both SoHi and Homer in the Railbelt Conference showdown between the Stars and Mariners on Saturday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
SoHi defeated Homer 2-1 to go 3-0 for the weekend in Railbelt Conference hockey play.
SoHi 2 – Homer 1
The Stars and Mariners played a scoreless first period behind solid goaltending by SoHi’s Ayden See and Homer’s Keegan Strong.
The second period opened with a goal by Boone Theiler just :21 seconds into the period for a 1-0 SoHi lead. The Mariners answered with a Micah Williamson goal to tie the game at 1-1. The Stars took the lead at 2-1 with a Dylan Dahlgren goal; which proved to be the final goal of the night.
The third period feature more quality goaltending as the game ended 2-1 Stars.
For the game, SoHi’s See recorded 22 saves on 23 shots; Homer’s Strong recorded 25 saves on 27 shots.
