Stars Dominate Lathrop For Divisional Victory

The Soldotna Stars scored 51 points in three quarters and held the Lathrop Malemutes scoreless until the fourth quarter in the Stars overpowering 51-14 victory in Division II football on SoHi’s homecoming game Friday.

The Stars scored two touchdowns in just six offensive plays after holding Lathrop on the Malemutes’ first two drives in the first quarter.  From there, SoHi held Lathrop on five additional, first half possessions while scoring three rushing touchdowns for a 37-0 lead at the half.

SoHi touchdowns in the first half were recorded by Jersey Truesdell on a 10-yard run; Galen Brantley III on a 27-yard pass reception from Truedell; Aaron Faletoi on a 14-yard run; Hunter Metcalf on a 43-yard run and Wyatt Medcoff on an 88-yard touchdown run.

The Stars starting offense added two third quarter scores with a 6-yard run by Faletoi and a 4-yard bootleg by Truesdell.  SoHi lead 51-0 after three quarters before Lathrop scored a pair of passing touchdowns. Final Score: SoHi 51, Lathrop 14.

 

Individual Game Offensive Highlights

Hudson Metcalf: 147 rushing yards, one touchdown, three receptions for 30 yards

Wyatt Medcoff: 178 rushing yards on 9 carries including 88-yard touchdown run

Galen Brantley III: 2 catches for 40 yards and touchdown

Aaron Faletoi: 84 rushing yards and two touchdowns

Jersey Truesdell: 6 for 6 passing for 100 yards and one passing touchdown, 17 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns, two, 2-point conversions, 5 PAT kicks

 

The Stars improve to 4-0 on the season and record their first Division II victory.  SoHi improves its Alaska football win streak to 12-straight games.

 

Barring a cancellation of next Saturday’s scheduled football game due to a teacher’s strike called for Tuesday September 17th, The Stars will host Kodiak on September 21 at SoHi.
