Stars Hockey Sweep Kodiak: Kenai Falls In Juneau

The Soldotna Stars hockey team improved to 2-0 in the Railbelt Conference with a 10-0 win over Kodiak on Saturday; Kenai fell for a second time in Juneau to the Crimson Bears.

 

SoHi 10 – Kodiak 0

Boone Theiler scored four goals in the Stars 10-0 shutout of the Kodiak Bears in Railbelt Conference play on Saturday.

The Stars opened with three, first period goals.  Gehret Medcoff opened the scoring just :40 seconds into the contest.  Theiler scored the first of his goals and Jace Applehans scored for a 3-0 SoHi lead.

The second period included a second Medcoff goal and a Theiler goal for a 5-0 SoHi advantage.  The Stars scored five, third period goals: one for Applehans, one for Theiler, a goal by Daniel Heath, a final goal for Theiler and a closing goal by Dawson Lockwood.

In goal for the Stars, Jackson Purcell recorded nine saves on nine shots.

SoHi improves to 2-0 in the Railbelt Conference.

 

Juneau 4 – Kenai 2

For a second, straight game the Kenai Kardinals fall 4-2 to the Crimson Bears in Juneau.

Juneau opened with first goal of the game early in the first period by Emilio Holbrook. Luke Bovitz scored for a 2-0 Juneau lead. Dylan Sowa extended the Juneau lead to 3-0 with a second period goal.

The Kardinals scored a pair of goals to draw to 3-2 before Juneau added a final goal for the 4-2 Railbelt Conference victory.
