The Soldotna Stars hockey team downed Juneau Douglas 4-2 on Thursday in a non-conference hockey pairing which opens a three-game series for the Crimson Bears.
SoHi scored twice in the final minute of the first period for a 2-0 lead; goals by Cameron Knowlton and Corey Hanson. The Stars added a Hanson goal in the second period for a 3-0 advantage. Juneau scored to close to 3-1 at the end of the second period. The Stars added a final goal off the stick of Matthew Dougherty for a 4-1 lead; Juneau closed with a goal for a 4-2 final score. SoHi goalie Billy Yoder turned-away 45 shots for the Stars, as SoHi was outshot 47-19 for the contest.
