Stars & Kards Close With Wins At Buddy Dale Baseball Tournament

The Soldotna Stars baseball team bounced-back from a Friday loss to the eventual Buddy Dale tournament winners Wasilla with a 4-2 win over Palmer in the tournament’s third-place game on Saturday.

 

SoHi 4 – Palmer 2

The Stars, behind a six-inning, seven strikeout effort by starting pitcher Atticus Gibson, defeated Palmer 4-2 in the Buddy Dale Baseball Tournament’s third place game on Saturday in Wasilla.

SoHi held Palmer scoreless through five innings and Gibson allowed only two, unearned runs for the contest.  Andrew Pieh closed a scoreless, seventh inning.  Gibson lead the offense, which scored all four SoHi runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, going 2 for 2 with an RBI; Jacob Belger went 2 for 3.  (photo courtesy of Alaska Baseball Facebook Page)

Kenai 12 – Houston 2

Kenai closed tournament play with a 12-2 win over Houston.  Brady Bostic lead Kenai going 4 for 4 with three RBI at the plate; Gabe Smith went 3 for 3 for Kenai.

 

Buddy Dale Championship

The Wasilla Warriors won the Buddy Dale championship game with a 10-6 victory over Colony.
