Stars & Kards Winless On Valley Hockey Swing

North Star Conference road games filled the schedule for both the Soldotna Stars and Kenai Kardinals with three days of conference hockey on the road.

Neither Kenai or SoHi recorded a victory over the six games against Palmer, Wasilla and Colony.  The Stars did receive one point with a 3-3 overtime tie against the Moose.

 

Game Results: Saturday, December 3

SoHi 1 – Colony 4  

SoHi tied the contest at 1-1 with a goal by Alois Nuenzert in the first period; however, failed to score again in the 4-1 loss.  The Stars were out-shot 38 to 16.

Kenai 3 – Palmer 10

The Kardinals played even with Palmer through the first 19 minutes of their contest with the Moose, tied 2-2 into the second period.  Palmer overpowered the Kardinals in the final 25 minutes, outscoring Kenai 8-1.

Levi Mese, Matt Zorbas and Jakob O”Brien each scored single goals.

 

Game Results: Friday, December 2

SoHi 3 – Palmer 3 

SoHi and Palmer battled to a 3-3 tie on Friday with both teams earning a single point in the NSC. standings.  SoHi trailed 2-1 after two periods with a goal from Braxton Urban.  The Stars took the lead in the third period on goals by Ethan Brown and Galen Brantley.  Leading 3-2 with only :07 seconds remaining, The Stars surrendered the tying goal to the Moose.  Neither team scored in the overtime period.

Kenai 2 – Wasilla 13

Kenai was out-shot 41-13 in a 13-2 loss to Wasilla.  Levi Mese scored both Kardinal goals in the first period.

 

Game Results: Thursday, December 1

SoHi 1 – Wasilla 4  

The Stars fell to Wasilla 4-1 on the ice at the Brett Arena.  SoHi and Wasilla played even into the second period; then Wasilla scored a pair of goals for a 3-1 advantage.  Following a long injury delay, Wasilla added a final goal for the 4-1 NSC victory.

 

Kenai 1 –  Colony 9  

The Kenai Kardinals managed only a single, third period goal in Kenai’s road opener against the Colony Knights; Colony downing Kenai 9-1.

Bailey Maxson scored Kenai’s only goal early in the third period.  Kardinal goalie Ryan Williams turned away 42 of 51 shots; while the Kards offense managed only 11 shots.
