It took four Los Angeles Dodgers to combine for a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres on Friday.
On Monday, The Soldotna Stars produced a no-hitter using three pitchers.
The Soldotna Stars, behind the pitching of Jake Marcuson, Hunter Thompson and Cody Quelland, recorded a five-inning, no-hitter against the Kenai Kardinals; SoHi downing Kenai 17-0 in the run-rule Southcentral Conference victory.
Marcuson opened with two solid innings, including four strikeouts. Thompson threw the next two innings, striking out five Kardinal hitters. Quelland closed-out the game in the fifth inning, recording a strikeout. The SoHi pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts, while walking four.
The SoHi bats collected 13 hits lead by Brandon Crowder’s four RBI and three hits. David Michael recorded two hits, two runs, and three RBI.
The Stars improve to 2-2 in Southcentral Conference play with back-to-back wins over Kodiak and Kenai.
