Milestones are again on the line as high school football opens week three of the regular season; local teams battling in a pair of games on Friday night and a Saturday contest.
The Soldotna Stars football program will attempt to post a 52nd-straight victory and extend the Stars’ current Alaska record for consecutive victories.
SoHi head coach Galen Brantley will record his 100th victory as the Stars head coach with a win over South Anchorage on Friday night.

The Soldotna Stars offense will be on display against South Anchorage on Friday at SoHi. The Stars with nearly 650 rushing yards, 840 total yards, and 85 points scored through the first two contests of the season (both against Division I opponents) will bring their multi-faceted attack which also includes four passing touchdowns.
The Stars face a third Anchorage opponent in a row having dismissed both West Anchorage and Dimond High School. South Anchorage enters the game with a 1-1 record. The Wolverines were Large School champions recently in 2012 and 2014.
The SoHi defense as allowed one touchdown on the season; the starting defense has yet to allow a single point.

The Nikiski Bulldogs travel to the southern-most football school to play the Ketchikan Kings on Friday night.
The Bulldogs, 0-2, will face a Division III opponent in the Kings and look to get the offense started in Nikiski’s second divisional game of the season. The Bulldogs managed a single rushing touchdown in their home opener against Monroe; although, the offense amassed 263 total yards. Ketchikan, 0-2, will be playing their first home game of the season.

The Kenai Kardinals host Juneau in the Kards home-opener on Saturday; Kenai coming off an 8-6 loss to Division II power North Pole will face a second Southeast Conference opponent in the Crimson Bears.
The Kardinals offense, which rushed for nearly 220 yards and five trips to the red zone against the Patriots, will look to put points on the board and finish drives against Juneau. Kenai stands at 1-1 on the season, 0-1 in divisional play.
