The Soldotna Stars girls and boys track programs’ depth proved overpowering at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Homer High School; SoHi winning the girls team title 191-134 over Kenai and the SoHi boys outscoring the field with 272 team points.

SoHi Girls: 1st Place 191 points
The Soldotna Star girls recorded four individual event winners, two relay event winners, and multiple place winners to claim the team title.
Holleigh Jamie and Brittany Taylor lead the SoHi running attack with Jamie winning the 300M hurdles and finishing second in the 100M hurdles. Taylor raced to a victory in the 400M dash with a time of 1:01.82, a third in the 200M and both were members of SOHi’s winning 4X200M and 4X400M relays.
In the field events, Itu Tuisaula threw 41′ 3″ for the shot put victory, ranked second on the state best list for 2019. Danica Schmidt cleared 4’10” in the girls high jump.
Kenai Girls: 2nd Place 134 points
The Kenai girls totaled seven, individual champions lead by a three championship day for Jaycie Calvert. Calvert swept the distance events with victories in the 800M run, 1600M run and 3200M run. Hayley Maw raced to a pair of sprint wins in the 100M and 200M dash events. Savanna Wilson won the 100M hurdles and Chelsea Plagge topped the triple jump. Kenai also scored a win in the 4X100M relay.

Kenai Peninsula Borough Track & Field: Boys Results
SoHi Boys: 1st Place 272 points
The Soldotna boys dominated the field events, sprints and relays en route to the team title at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Track and Field Championships.
In the field events, the SoHi boys lead by a first place for Cody Nye earned the top four places in the shot put; and again lead by a first by Nye took the top three spots in the discus. The Star boys added first place finished in the high jump by Kaleb Swank; the long jump by Trenton O’Reagan and the triple jump by Tyler Morrison.
Ben Booth recorded first place finishes in both the 100M and 200M dash events. The Stars finished first through fifth and placed seven in the top 10 in the 100M. Corbin Wirz raced to a victory in the 110M hurdles. The Stars won all four relay events (4X100, 4X200M, 4X400M, and 4X800M).
Kenai Boys: 2nd Place 64 points
The Kenai boys Maison Dunham recorded victories in the 800M and 3200M runs. Samuel Roberts completed the distance sweep with a win in the 1600M run. Jarett Wilson raced to a win in the 300M hurdles.
