Stars Shine At Division I State Track Championships

The Soldotna Star track teams, the only large school track program on the peninsula, competed at the 2022 ASAA Division I State Track & Field Championships contested over two days at Dimond High School in Anchorage.

 

The SoHi girls earned two championships; one for Adara Hagelund in the high jump and one for the 4X800M relay.

Dylan Dahlgren earned the lone state championship for the SoHi boys in the discus.

The Soldotna girls and boys teams each finished fifth in the Division I team scoring.

 

ASAA Division I State Results: Soldotna High School Girls

The Soldotna girls track team totaled 91 points with two state championships and multiple finishes in the individual event finals.

Adara Hagelund won the girls high jump clearing 5’1″ (personal best).  Adara also finished fourth in the triple jump with a personal best 33′ 2″.  Katelyn Morrison recorded the third-best height in the girls high jump at 4’10” and also posted a season-best 15′ in the long jump and a 31’+ in the triple jump.

On the track, Jordan Strausbaugh finished second in the 800M run with a season-best 2:20.19; Jordan also finished third in the 1600M with a personal-best 5:18.93.

The SoHi girls 4X800M relay topped the field for the state championship with a time of 10:00.42 with team members: Jordan Ruffner, Annie Burns, Ellie Burns and Jordan Strausbaugh.

Other top finishes for the SoHi girls included: Annie Burns, 8th in 800M; Angelina Chavarria, 7th in 100M hurdles; Brandie Schwenk, 8th in 100M hurdles; Anaulie Sedivy, 6th in 300M hurdles; Ashlee Anderson, 8th in discus; Girls 4X400M relay

 

ASAA Division I State Results: Soldotna High School Boys

Dylan Dahlgren lead the Stars performances with a state championship in the boys discus with a distance of 160′ 9″ and a second-place in the boys shot put with a distance of 52′ 9″.  Kevin Steger finished 6th in the shot put.

On the track, Nathan Johnson led the SoHi boys with a 4th in the 800M with a season-best time of 2:02.23; Nate also finished 6th in the 400M with a time of 52.97.

Other top boys finishes included: Wayne Mellon, 4th in 110M hurdles; Daniel McRorie, 7th in the 300M hurdles; Boys 4X200M relay, 4th place; Boys 4X400M relay, 4th place
