The Soldotna Stars opened Northern Lights Conference play with the SoHi girls hosting Kodiak and the Star boys on “The Rock” to battle Kodiak.

SoHi Girls 39 – Kodiak 25
The SoHi girls, following a 17-17 halftime, outscored the Kodiak Bears 22-8 in the second half for a 39-25 Northern Lights Conference basketball victory. Britney Blossom and Aliann Schmidt both score 12 points for the Stars. The Bears managed only one field goal in the third and one in the fourth, and converted only 3 of 13 free throws.
SoHi Boys 41 – Kodiak 48
SoHi dropped a second game in Kodiak on Saturday 48-41 to the Bears. Derek Evans lead the Stars with 16 points, as SoHi suffers to Northern Lights Conference losses to the Bears.

SoHi Girls 26 – Kodiak 22
The Star girls and Kodiak girls played through near-countless turnovers to a down-to-the-wire finish on Friday night; SoHi scoring 3 of 4 free throws to secure a 26-22 victory over the Bears. The teams played even in the first half, tied 12-12. SoHi lead 21-20 after three quarters. Both teams struggled to score in the final quarter until the final two minutes. Danica Schmidt made the final free throws and Britney Blossom scored SoHi’s only field goal for the 26-22 SoHi conference victory.
The Stars face the Bears on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Soldotna Prep School.

SoHi Boys 42 – Kodiak 49
The Stars suffered a slow start and suffered their first Northern Lights Conference loss to the Bears 49-42. Derek Evans scored 12 for the Stars.
