The Soldotna Stars recorded Northern Lights Conference victories at Palmer on Friday night highlighting a full start to the next- to-last weekend of the regular season for high school basketball.
SoHi Girls 53 – Palmer 30
The Soldotna girls notched a 53-30 NLC victory over the Palmer Moose on the strength of a dominating second half of play. The Stars lead 22-20 at the half and held the Moose to three field goals and three free throws for the second half. Katelyn Morrison scored 14 of her 16 points in the first quarter; Josie Sheridan answered with 15 of her 17 points in the second half. The SoHi girls improve to 3-6 in the NLC standings.
SoHi Boys 63 – Palmer 55
The SoHi vs Palmer pairing featured a back-and-forth throughout with Palmer leading 18-11 after one quarter; SoHi led 36 -32 at the half and trailed 48-47 after three quarters. In the fourth, the Stars held Palmer to seven points and pulled away to an eight-point margin. Izaiah Gilbert topped all scorers with 19; Andrew Pieh scorer 18 in the SoHi victory. The SoHi boys improve to 2-7 in NLC games.
SoHi travels to Seward for non-divisional games against the Seahawks with the girls varsity at 2 p.m. and the boys set for 3:30 p.m.
