Stars Volleyball Splits Opening Day Play In NLC Tournament

The Northern Lights Conference Volleyball Tournament opened play at Wasilla High School with the Soldotna Stars recording a first round victory and a semi-final loss in the double-elimination, five-team tournament.

 

SoHi 3 – Palmer 2  First Round

The Stars held-off Palmer 15-9 in the decisive fifth game of the #4 seed Stars opener against #5 seed Palmer in the NLC tournament.  SoHi and Palmer traded games 25-19, 16-25, 25-12, 12-25, 15-9. Sadie Lane recorded 12 kills and Katelynn Morrison added 10 kills for the Stars.

Also in the first round, Kodiak, the #3 seed, upset #2 seed Wasilla on the Warriors home court.

 

Colony 3 – SoHi 1  Semi-Final Game

The #1 seed Colony Knights, after a bye in the first round, defeated the Soldotna Stars 3-1 in the second round on Thursday at Wasilla High School.  Morrison lead SoHi with 13 kills in the loss. Colony dropped game one 15-25, then rallied 25-18, 25-15 and 25-19.  The Knights advance to the winner’s bracket, semi-final on Friday night.

SoHi continues play with a 5 p.m. game on Friday against the winner of the Wasilla and Palmer game.
