The Soldotna Stars hockey team opened the 2019 ASAA Division II State Hockey Championships with a decisive 10-0 shutout of the Delta Huskies on Thursday at the Curtis D Menard Arena in Wasilla.
SoHi, the #1 seed into the tournament, defeated Delta, seeded #8, in the tournament’s first game overpowering the Huskies with a barrage of shots and wave after wave of fresh players.
The Stars scored four goal in the first period, two goals in the second and closed with four, third, period goals.
Soldotna advances to play Palmer on Friday in the winners-bracket, semi-final in the 5 p.m. game.
