Stars Win Pair Against Kards On The Diamond

The Soldotna softball and baseball teams each recorded victories on Wednesday over the Kenai Kardinals.

Softball: SoHi Girls 16 – Kenai 4

More high-scoring offense and another outstanding pitching performance, and the Soldotna Stars softball team recorded its third-straight victory in six days with a 16-4 win over Kenai.  SoHi’s Emily Jackson earned the win on the mound pitching just four innings and recording six strikeouts and allowing only two base-on-balls.  The Stars scored seven runs in the first inning and five runs in the second.  SoHi improves to 3-0 in Northern Lights Conference baseball. 4-0 on the season.

Baseball: SoHi 11 – Kenai 7

The SoHi baseball team rallied from a 2-run deficit in the fifth inning to record an 11-7 Southcentral Conference victory and to improve to 2-0 in league play.  The Stars and Kards were knotted at 2-2; Kenai took the lead 4-2 into the fourth inning.  In the fifth, SoHi scored four runs on two hits, three walks and a hit batter for a 6-4 lead.  SoHi pitchers combined to allow seven runs on five hits and seven walks; Kardinal pitchers allowed 11 runs on seven hits and five walks.
