State Basketball Tournaments Postponed Due To COVID-19 Concerns

Due to concerns of the spread of the coronavirus in Alaska, Governor Mike Dunleavy has issue a declaration of a public health disaster emergency.  This in anticipation of the COVID-19  (at this time, no cases have been diagnosed in Alaska).

 

Due to in-state travel restrictions to be put in-place regarding athletic and scholastic travel, the ASAA Alaska State Basketball Championships at all levels are at this point postponed.  This includes 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A divisions of high school basketball.

 

Alaska School Activities Association Executive Director Billy Strickland, through email stated “March Madness Alaska is postponed”.

 

Further details will be available following an emergency meeting of the ASAA board on Wednesday night.
