State Football Championship Games Feature Bulldogs, Kards & Stars

The pairings are set for the Small Schools and Medium Schools state football championships.

Small School Championship Game:  Saturday, October 17th  12:30 p.m.   Dimond High School

The Nikiski Bulldogs, following a 41-18 victory over Barrow in the divisional playoffs, advance to face the Eielson Ravens, 62-0 winners over Homer, in the 2015 Small Schools ASAA First National Bowl state football championships.

Saturday’s championship game is a rematch of the 2014 Small Schools title game; which was won by Eielson 55-51 over Nikiski in the second-highest scoring championship game in Small School football history.

Medium School Championship Game:  Saturday, October 17th  4:00 p.m.   Dimond High School

The Soldotna Stars, reigning, three-time champion in the Medium Schools division, will face-off against the Kenai Kardinals, 2011 Medium Schools champion, in the 2015 Medium Schools ASAA First National Bowl state football championships.

The Stars advance to their fifth , consecutive Medium Schools title game on the strength of an undefeated season and a 49-13 victory over Thunder Mountain in the divisional playoffs.  The Stars own state championships from 2012, 2013 and 2014 and have not lost a football game since early 2012: a streak of 38 consecutive wins for the SoHi program.

Kenai enters its second Medium Schools championship game, returning to the title game for the first time since winning the 2011 Medium School state championship.  The Kards advance by virtue of a 74-4 dismantling of the North Pole Patriots in the divisional playoffs.
