Nordic skiers from throughout Alaska, representing over 20 high schools, competed in three days of state championship events at Kincaid Park in Anchorage with team championships earned in girls and boys divisions and individual state championships claimed pasted on composite times.
The Service High School Cougars topped the team scoring in both the girls and boys competition, followed West Valley of Fairbanks in both girls and boys overall team score.
The Soldotna Stars boys team placed seventh overall with a combined, three event time of 4:25:33.2. Region III champion Palmer placed sixth in the boys team scoring.
The Soldotna girls placed eighth in the team scoring behind Palmer (7th) and ahead of Homer (11th) and Kenai (12) with a combined time of 3:43:36.9.
Friday Event: Girls 7.5-Kilometer Classic Mass Start
West Valleys’ Kendall Kramer, reigning 2019 state champion, topped the field in the girls 7.5K classic race posting a time of 22:01.3.
Leading the peninsula skiers, Homer’s Autumn Daigle placed 17th and Kenai’s Jayna Boonstra placed 18th overall. Other top-50 finishers included SoHi’s Jordan Ruffner, 31st; SoHi’s Erika Arthur, 32nd; SoHi’s Katie Delker, 37th; and SoHi’s Cameron Blackwell in 47th.
Friday Event: Boys 10-Kilometer Classic Mass Start
Service’s Alexander Maurer clocked a winning time of 28:19.0 in the boys 10K event. SoHi’s Foster Boze (27th) and Bradley Walters (28th) top all peninsula skiers. Other top-50 performers included SoHi’s Jack Harris (34th), Quinn Cox (39th), and Ryder Geisler (48th).

Saturday Event: Girls 3-Kilometer Mixed Technique Race (4 members)
Service topped the Girls 3-Kilometer Mixed Technique Race with a combined time of 38:49.0. the SoHi girls relay placed 9th overall.
Saturday Event: Boys 5-Kilometer Mixed Technique Race (4 members)
The Service High boys relay team posted a time of 51:25.0 for the relay championship. The SoHi boys placed 7th overall.
