State Opens Review of Concept Designs for Kenai River Ranch

A review period has opened on conceptual designs by the State of Alaska for the Kenai River Ranch area that is located down Funny River Road.

Alaska State Parks Landscape Specialist Lucy Baranko said the concepts have been posted online so that interested parties can review those before the Soldotna open house on September 9.

Baranko: “So people have an opportunity to start commenting right away and then that way they’re already in their hands and they can already go online and look at them prior to the meeting and so this way it gives them an opportunity to come to the meeting to ask questions.”

Based on public comments submitted this spring, the state has created three possible concepts: a conservation area where no new facilities are added, a boat launch with a small or medium parking area, or an interpretive nature trails with two public use cabins.

The deadline for submitting comments on those conceptual designs is September 25.

The open-house will be held in Soldotna from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9th at the Gilman River Center located at 514 Funny River Road.
