Eight age division state records fell at the 2016 SoHi Fall Classic weightlifting event at Soldotna High School. The SoHi Fall Classic, sanctioned by USA Powerlifting Alaska, featured a full day of competition with weight-class records set in the Teen 1 division.
Two Alaska records were set by Megan Calloway. Calloway set new standards for the female -72kg division in the Total Push-Pull with a weight total of 187.5 kg or 413 lbs, 6 oz.; and in the Bench Press-Single Lift at 55kg or 121 lbs.
Aaron Faleto-Eli set three records in the Male Teen 1 division in the -105kg weight division. Faleto-Eli set new standards in the Squat at 150 kg or nearly 331 lbs.; in the Total Push-Pull at 272.5 kg or just over 600 lbs.; and in the 3-Lift Total with a combined weight of 422.5 kg or 931 lbs. 7 oz.
Thomas Kusserow-Yeargan set new Male Teen 1 records in the -66 kg weight class in the Total Push-Pull at 220 kg or 485 lbs.; and in the Deadlift at 145 kg or over 319 pounds.
Cody Nye set a state record in the Male Teen 1 -93 weight class in the Deadlift at 175 kg or over 385 pounds.
Matthew Martinelli became the first Paralympic bench presser! in the 35 year history of USA Powerlifting in Alaska. Matthew, age 16, pressed 132 pounds.
