The 2015 ASAA State Track & Field Championships crowned team and individual champions, with the running finals featuring outstanding performances and new state records in numerous events.

 

In all, nine state records fell during the two-day state championships, including the longest standing record from 1982.  Region III athletes excelled, setting seven of the nine new marks.

 

The Kenai girls team finished second in the 4A team scoring behind state champion South Anchorage.  The Kardinal boys finished third behind Lathrop and state champion Kodiak, lead by Levi Thomet’s three, individual championships in the 3200M, 1600M, and 800M runs.

Anchorage Christian School won the girls and boys 1-2-3A team titles.  The Homer girls finished as runner-up in the team scoring.

 

Top Performances by central peninsula athletes included:

Kenai’s Allie Ostrander set state records in the 3200M and 1600M runs and won the 800M.  Allie posted a 10:09.73 in the 3200M, breaking her own record; Allie raced to a 4:48.32 in the 1600M, again breaking her own record.

SoHI Girls 4X800M Relay: SoHi won the girls 4X800M relay for a third, straight time at the state championships.  The Star girls team of Daisy Nelson, Olivia Hutchings, Sadie Fox and Dani McCormick set a new state record 0f 9:27.39 crushing the old record by eight seconds.

KCHS’s Josh Jackman: Long Jump, 1st place; Triple Jump, 3rd place; 300M hurdles, 5th place

SoHi Girls 4X400M Relay: 2nd place

SoHi’s Olivia Hutchings: 3200M , 2nd place; 800M, 2nd place

SoHi’s Dani McCormick: 400M, 2nd place

SoHi’s Dalton Best: Discus, 4th place

KCHS Girls 4X100M Relay: 3rd place

KCHS Boys 4X400M Relay: 2nd place

CIA’s Madison Orth: 2nd in 100M hurdles; 3rd in long jump; 4th in triple jump
