Central Peninsula wrestlers combined for nine individual weight class champions; SoHi’s Trinity Donovan pinned her way to a fourth-straight girls state championship, Kenai wrestlers recorded three Division II state championships and the Soldotna Stars finished five for five in the Division I finals at the ASAA State Wrestling Championships contested at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.
ASAA Wrestling Championships: Division I
The Soldotna Stars finished second overall in the team scoring at the ASAA Division I State Wrestling Championships, just short of the desired team championship; SoHi recording 261.5 points narrowly behind champion South Anchorage, 275.
The Stars advanced five wrestlers into the championship finals and wrestled to five weight class championships.
Individual Champions: SoHi
Jacob Strausbaugh topped the field at 112 lbs. with a 9-2 decision in the final.
Ezekiel Miller won the 125 lb. division recording a 13-3 major decision in the final match and finished the season with a 24-1 record.
Isaac Chavarria earned the 152 lb. championship with pin in the 152 final. Chavarria finished 34-2 on the season.
Hunter Richardson capped an undefeated 33-0 season with an unbeaten run through the 189 lb. bracket.
Liam Babitt completed an unbeaten 20-0 season with a major decision in the championship round for the 215 lb. title.

ASAA Wrestling Championships: Girls Division
Trinity Donovan made Alaska history as only the third female wrestler to win four-straight state wrestling championships, dominating the girls 145 lb. weight class, pinning every opponent. Donovan completed a perfect 30-0 senior season.
The Soldotna girls finished third overall in the ASAA Girls State Wrestling team scoring. Lathrop and North Pole finished first and second in the team scoring.
The girls division combines all female wrestlers from throughout Alaska for one, non-classification wrestling championship.
The Homer Mariner girls wrestled to a pair of individual championships with Saoirse Cook winning the 126 lb. division and Roane Cook winning the 185 lb. weight class.

ASAA Wrestling Championships: Division II
The Kenai Kardinals, with three individual champions, placed second in the team scoring in the ASAA Division II State Wrestling Championships behind champion Redington High School.
Kenai’s Jaxson Young opened with a championship in the 103 lb. division recording a pin in the final round.
Owen Whicker won the Kardinals a second state championship with a decision in the 135 lb. championship final.
Andrew Gaethle topped the 152 lb. division with a 16-1 technical fall win in the final round.
The Seward Seahawks won two divisions with Aidan Schilling at 112 lbs. and Hunter Forshee-Kurtz at 119 lbs. Homer’s Russell Nyvall won the 140 lb. weight class.
