The 2022 Great Alaska Shakeout, a statewide Drop, Cover, Hold On Drill, is scheduled for Thursday, October 20th at 10:20 a.m. Alaska Time organized by the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Organizers state that at 10:20 a.m. (local time) Thursday, you can join millions of people across the world practicing earthquake safety. While we encourage you to participate with everyone, you can register your ShakeOut drill for any day of the year, and drill at a time of your choice. You can also include people in multiple locations through video conferencing.
Drop, Cover, Hold On is the recommended earthquake safety action in Alaska. According to Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, by practicing Drop, Cover, Hold On people can train themselves to remain calm and protect themselves during a powerful earthquake.
