Quality Asphalt Paving (QAP) and Southeast Roadbuilders, in cooperation with the DOT&PF, began production blasting for Phase 3 on the Sterling Highway MP 45-60 project on June 12.
Blasting will take place on the east side of the corridor, as noted by the star on the graphic below.
The blasting operations are anticipated to occur twice a week between the hours of 10 AM and 8 PM from June 12 until October 31.
Please be aware that blasting signals may be heard intermittently during this time.
The following blast signals will be sounded on a clearly audible air horn or similar device:
- Blast Warning Signal: A series of long signals 5 minutes prior to blasting
- Blasting Imminent: A series of short signals 1 minute prior to the blast
- All-Clear Signal: One long signal following the inspection of the blast area
