State Troopers out of Soldotna received a REDDI report on Saturday evening at 7:32 p.m. regarding a Chevrolet truck southbound from Mile 68 of the Sterling Highway. Troopers had prior knowledge of the truck and believed it to be driven by Brandon Timpke, age 30 of Nikiski, who has two outstanding arrest warrants.
Troopers located the truck near Mile 85 of the Sterling Highway and initiated a traffic stop after observing Timpke driving the vehicle. He took off from the traffic stop and accelerated to speeds over 100 miles-per-hour. Timpke ultimately crashed the truck near Robinson Loop and Montgomery before fleeing into the wooded area, leaving his two passengers behind.
Troopers were unable to locate Timpke in the woods.
Among the charges being filed in the Kenai Court with a request for an arrest warrant to be issued are failure to stop in the first degree, reckless driving, driving while license revoked, assault in the first degree, two counts of assault in the third degree, misconduct involving controlled substances in the third degree, and misconduct involving substances in the fourth degree.
The Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately program encourages drivers to call 911 when other drivers are behaving dangerously. Dangerous drivers risk death and injury not only to themselves, but to other innocent people both in their vehicle or in other vehicles on the road. Reckless, intimidating, aggressive behavior are some examples. Drunk, drugged, fatigued driving are others. Drivers illustrating signs of worsening control can put the lives of other people at risk.
