Governor Mike Dunleavy appointed Stephen (Steve) Colligan on Tuesday to the University of Alaska Board of Regents. Colligan is a long-time business owner with decades of professional experience in the public and private sectors. He has national and international experience specializing in Information Technology Integration, geographic information systems and geomatics.
He is a lifelong Alaskan who holds an A.A.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering Technology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Engineering Studies at UAF/UAA. He has decades of professional education and certifications in technology and project management.
A pioneer in professional use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems and robotics for engineering design, infrastructure inspection and geomatic purposes, Colligan has also been actively involved in STEM education in Alaska schools as President of the Alaska Drone Racing League and the Alaska Government Relations Coordinator for the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).
Colligan will fill the board of regents seat recently vacated following the resignation of previous board member Tuckerman Babcock, who was appointed by Dunleavy in May. Babcock said he was unable to devote the full time and attention to the Board necessary.
Colligan was born and raised in Fairbanks and currently resides in Wasilla with his family. His appointment takes effect immediately.
