Drivers should expect a road closure along Beaver Loop Road beginning Monday, April 13, through Tuesday, April 21. The closure is between Barbara Drive and Cone Avenue.
Through traffic will not be allowed, but local access will be maintained during this closure. Detour signs will be posted for residents to follow.
Shannon McCarthy of the Alaska Department of Transportation: “The Beaver Loop Road is improvement project is starting back up. We’re about 75% complete, but we still have about two months of work to do. One of those is replacing a culvert which is happening this week starting today and it will go through Tuesday, April 21. The closure is about halfway between Barbara Drive and Cone Avenue. The folks on the Barbara side will have to go through Bridge Access, and the folks on the Cone side will use Kenai Spur. The pipe is pretty darn deep, it’s about 15′ deep, so it does take some time to get it placed.”
The Beaver Loop improvement project has a number of goals, including constructing turn lanes as well as a separated pedestrian pathway. Project work will include installing grading, drainage improvements, illumination, guardrail, signing, and striping.
Through mid-July, crews will be paving and finishing the roadway. Stay tuned to KSRM for continued updates on traffic interruptions on Beaver Loop.
