A strong storm system moving from Southwest Alaska into the Interior will bring strong south-to-southwest winds along Cook Inlet from late Thursday afternoon through Friday evening for the cities of Kenai, Soldotna, Homer, and Cooper Landing.

According to the National Weather Service in Anchorage, wind gusts are expected to increase to around 45 mph with the potential for some stronger gusts to 55 mph this evening through the overnight hours.

Winds farther inland on the Kenai Peninsula, including the Homer area, will be breezy but not nearly as strong as along the main section of Cook Inlet.

People near the Inlet are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Prepare for the possibility of power outages. Use caution if you must drive, especially if in a high profile vehicle.
